[Tech]
We like to periodically highlight a particular technology
or product that we find remarkable. (Sometimes these are
from a client, although often not.) Read on to see our
latest pick for Tech of the Month...
Company: M2E Power
Technology:
M2E Power is commercializing a renewable energy platform
called “M2E” ---- motion to energy. It will free mobile
electronic device users from the need to regularly recharge
or replace batteries. The company’s patent-pending
technology taps the kinetic energy of everyday human or
vehicle motion to continuously generate and store power in
mobile devices – from night vision goggles to cells phones
and MP3 players.
VOX Factor:
In essence, M2E is a self recharging battery. The impact is
off the charts. Imagine never having to plug in your mobile
device....no longer being reliant on a power grid. From an
environmental impact, it can eliminate the need for a
charger (which wastes a lot of power), dramatically cuts
down on lithium (reduction of landfills), and is a
renewable energy source. It also has implications with big
power applications like wind generators and hydro power.
This technology will likely reach consumers in the next
three years, but should be deployed in the military by the
end of 2008.
