This just in: top tech blogs

I love PRSourceCode. The company provides incredibly useful surveys — and the latest one is no exception.  Today, it released its annual poll of tech PR professionals to determine the tech print and online publications, blogs and individual journalists we deem to be the most influential.  This year, it was interesting to see the list of top tech stand-alone blogs…not because there were any big surprises, but because the top two have not changed in three years, despite increasing competition.  TechCrunch continues its reign at #1, with GigaOm close behind at #2; rounding out the list were Mashable, Gizmodo and engadget, all past designees.

Another interesting tidbit: 80 percent of responding junior-level PR pros are more likely than senior-level PR pros to reach out to bloggers via Twitter.  This may be due to the fact that senior-level folks have been in the business long enough to be on a first-name basis with some editors, so a phone call is faster and more efficient; or it could be that younger PR professionals are more adept at using social media outlets.  But it’s information such as this that makes PRSourceCode’s surveys so interesting.
